Alito A liar, Alot-o
Alito Downplays '85 Abortion Statement
We especially like the part how it keeps stressing that he just said he would overturn abortion "to get a job", and then you scroll down and it casually mentions that he has not said he would uphold Roe V. Wade. Oh well. On the plus side, maybe this will finally make Americans notice the fact that the right to an abortion has been gone for years already in this country, for many women. Just that, y'know, now it'll be official.

Headline: "Democrats downplay Alito's '85 Abortion Statement, up-play Alito's stance on more important judicial matters, Iraq, economy; Win lots of elections."

Hmmmm. "More important"? Dunno. Headline: "Alito so-so on Iraq, economy; Very very bad on right to privacy, which will likely be fundamental issue of 21st Century." There's a reason that the left had NOTHING to do with Miers' withdrawal, and the far right had EVERYTHING to do with Alito's nomination.

I'm just saying abortion is a trap we should stop falling in.

See, but the problem being, tit shouldn't be a trap. Most of this country has no real problem with abortion being legal. Right-wingers, if pressed, will often say the feel the need to support anti-choice candidates, becasue they line up with their views on other issues, but in general, folks have consistently shown themselves to support candidates for the OTHER reasons. Pro-choice should be stated, flatly. End of discussion. In the case of a Supreme Court judge, upholding Roe V. Wade should be a given. If Alito isn't saying that, it seems clear that it will not be upheld. And that seems worth a fight. Are you saying we should be fighting him only for other reasons? I'm not sure what argiing- give me the 411.
